Most of us don't keep our money in just one spot. There's the everyday bank account, a little cash in the wallet, maybe a card you use for travel, and a digital wallet for online payments. Each one holds part of the picture, but on its own none of them tells you how much you actually have. LumynFi's account management brings every balance together into one overview, so the full picture is always a glance away.
The idea is simple: you create an account for each place your money lives, give it a name, a currency and a starting balance, and LumynFi keeps a running total across all of them. Because you enter the balances yourself, there's no bank login, no passwords to hand over, and nothing connecting LumynFi to your real bank. It's your own private overview of your own money — organized, up to date, and entirely in your control.
One overview for cash, bank, card and wallet
Your Accounts page is the home base for every balance you track. At the top sits your total balance — the sum of every real account you've added — and below it, each account is listed individually so you can see exactly where the money sits. LumynFi gives you four account types to organize around how you actually hold money:
- Bank — the balance you keep in a checking or savings account, recorded as the number you tell LumynFi.
- Cash — physical money on hand, in your wallet, a drawer, or an envelope.
- Card — a card balance you want to track separately from your bank account.
- Digital Wallet — money held in a mobile or online wallet you use for everyday payments.
Each account carries a name, a currency and a balance that you set and update. Add as many as you need — a personal account and a shared one, a travel-cash stash, a second card — and LumynFi keeps them all in line and adds them up for you. The total balance reflects only your real accounts, so the headline number is always one you can trust.
You enter your balances — never a bank password
This is the part that makes LumynFi different. There is no forced bank connection and no screen that asks for your online-banking login, PIN or card security code. You simply type in what each account holds, the way you'd jot it on paper — only here it stays organized, totals itself, and updates as you record transactions. Your money information belongs to you alone, and LumynFi never holds your money or moves it on your behalf.
Why it helps
One total balance, always current
Instead of adding up four apps and a wallet in your head, LumynFi sums every account into a single total balance at the top of your Accounts page — so 'how much do I have?' has an instant answer.
No bank login, ever
You enter your balances yourself. LumynFi never asks for bank passwords, PINs or card codes, and never connects to your bank — your overview is private and entirely in your hands.
Organized by how you actually hold money
Bank, cash, card and digital wallet each get their own account, so the everyday checking balance, the cash in your pocket and the card you travel with all stay separate and clear.
Balances that keep themselves up to date
Record a transaction against an account and its balance moves automatically. Your accounts reflect your spending and income as you log it, with no manual recalculating.
Multi-currency, side by side
Give each account its own currency and track money across borders — handy if you keep cash in one currency and a card in another, or you're managing money in more than one place.
Money owed kept out of the total
Amounts people owe you, or you owe them, live in a separate Others section via Money Circle — so they never inflate or distort your real, spendable total balance.
Real-life use cases
Seeing your whole position before you spend
Before a big purchase, you want the real number — not the bank balance alone. Open the Accounts page and the total across your bank, cash, card and wallet tells you what you actually have to work with.
Keeping cash visible, not forgotten
Cash is the balance most apps ignore. Add a Cash account, update it when you withdraw or spend, and the money in your wallet finally counts toward your overview instead of vanishing from view.
Juggling more than one account
A personal account, a shared household account and a travel card can all sit in one place. Each stays separate and clearly labelled, while the total still rolls them up into a single figure.
Tracking money across currencies
If you hold money in different currencies — a home account and a wallet you top up while travelling — give each its own currency so every balance reads correctly, without forcing everything into one.
How balances stay accurate over time
An overview is only useful if it stays true, so LumynFi keeps your balances in step with what you record. When you add an account, you give it a starting balance — the amount it holds right now. From there, every transaction you log against that account adjusts its balance: an expense lowers it, income raises it. The total at the top of the Accounts page recalculates automatically, so the headline number always matches the sum of the parts.
You're never locked into a number, either. If a balance drifts from reality — you spent some cash you forgot to log, or rounded a figure earlier — you can update the account directly to match what's actually there. LumynFi is a record of your money as you keep it, and you stay firmly in charge of every figure.
The Others section: money owed, kept separate
Not every amount you want to track is money you can spend today. The cash a friend still owes you, or what you owe a sibling, matters — but it isn't sitting in any of your accounts yet. That's why LumynFi keeps those amounts in a separate Others section on the Accounts page, powered by Money Circle, well away from your real total balance.
Keeping money owed out of the main total is a deliberate choice. Your total balance should reflect what you actually hold, not optimistic IOUs. When an amount is finally settled and the money lands in one of your real accounts, that's when it touches your balance — exactly as it should. Until then, it stays visible in Others, so nothing is forgotten and nothing is double-counted.
Adding and organizing your accounts
- 1Open the Accounts page and choose Add account.
- 2Pick the type that fits — Bank, Cash, Card or Digital Wallet.
- 3Give it a clear name, like 'Everyday checking' or 'Wallet cash'.
- 4Choose its currency and enter the balance it holds right now.
- 5Save — and the new account joins your overview, with the total balance updating to include it.
From there, your accounts grow and shift with you. Add a new one whenever money starts living somewhere new, rename them as your setup changes, and update balances whenever you like. The aim is a true, tidy overview — one that mirrors how your money is really spread out, without any of the work of keeping a spreadsheet.
Private by design
Your accounts and balances are yours alone. Everything you enter is scoped to your own account, encrypted at rest, and never sold or shared. Because LumynFi works from the balances you type in rather than a live link to your bank, there's no banking credential to leak and no third-party connection to worry about — just a private overview you control.
LumynFi is a personal-finance management app, not a bank. It doesn't hold your money, move it, or connect to any financial institution. It organizes the numbers you choose to record, so the overview reflects your real situation while your sensitive details stay firmly in your hands.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to connect my bank account?
No. LumynFi never connects to your bank and never asks for your online-banking login, PIN or card security code. You enter each account's balance yourself, so your overview stays private and entirely under your control.
What types of accounts can I create?
Four: Bank, Cash, Card and Digital Wallet. Each one gets its own name, currency and balance, so you can organize money around how you actually hold it.
How is the total balance calculated?
Your total balance is the sum of all your real accounts. It updates automatically as you add accounts and record transactions. Money owed through Money Circle stays in a separate Others section and is never included in the total.
Can I track accounts in different currencies?
Yes. Each account carries its own currency, so you can keep balances in more than one currency side by side, with every figure reading correctly.
How do my balances stay up to date?
When you record a transaction against an account, its balance adjusts automatically — expenses lower it, income raises it. You can also update any balance directly at any time to match what the account actually holds.
Is LumynFi a bank?
No. LumynFi is a personal-finance management app that helps you organize and track the balances you record. It doesn't hold or move money, and it isn't a bank or a payment service.
When every balance lives in one overview, money stops being a guess. With LumynFi's account management, your bank, cash, card and wallet all add up to a single, trustworthy total — kept current as you go, organized the way you actually hold money, and private from end to end. No bank login, no handed-over passwords, no spreadsheet to babysit. Just a clear, honest picture of where you stand, whenever you want to look.
